Silhouette blog challenge - birthday card - 100 days challenge

 

I am sharing this with the Countryview March challenge - Silhouettes.

Now I love silhouettes and haven't done any for a while, so there might be more entries to this challenge before the end of March!

The frame is cut on my Silhouette machine (seemed appropriate!), it had been in the 'assorted die cuts' box for a while.  I found a previously inked background and it cut nicely into two squares so you may see the other one soon :-)

The stamps are from Lavinia Stamps (cherry blossom) and Stampin Up (sentiment), over-stamped with Versafine Clair.

Blog Challenge - Use Yellow - 100 days challenge

 

Today I am joining in the Allsorts challenge -Use Yellow

This is a colour really far out of my comfort zone!  But I found some yellow splotchy background paper and in the 'bits' box, a punched out SU daisy which I had previously heat embossed and assembled using three layers.  So I coloured that with SU 'Bumblebee' watercolour pen.

The sentiment is from Stamping all Day, I rediscovered it recently and it is so useful :-)

Birthday card - blog challenge - 100 days

 

I do like a tic-tac-toe challenge!  I am sharing this with Retro Rubber challenge 153 and am using the line:  Birthday - The Ocean - Blue

The background is done with DiOx inks and an attempt at the salt crystal technique ... which looks OK, but probably would have worked better with the original DI's :-) 

The shells stamp is from Stampendous, one of the wood-backed ones I recently unpacked after our move, it's dated 2001.  I stamped directly onto the background in Versafine Clair Medieval Blue.

I had the narrow frame in my box of die-cuts and it happened to fit the image perfectly!  Love it when that happens :-)  I stamped the sentiment and punched out with an SU punch.

Day 94: Birthday card, new distress oxide colour

I am sharing this with A Bit More Time to Craft, their theme is 'Anything goes'.
There is a new Distress colour ... Speckled Egg, which is a vintage-y duck egg blue and is gorgeous.  I bought the Oxide inkpad and the Oxide spray.
I have used a new stencil, from Darkroom Door, shmooshed DiOx inks through, in speckled egg, shaded lilac and cracked pistachio.  I then found an old script stamp and stamped that over the stencil in weathered wood, but using the second impression not the first.  The stencil was removed and a few stamped splats were added.
The sentiment is from Phill Martin, as is the script, the feathers are Hot off the Press and Elusive Images, who have since become Chocolate Baroque.
This card qualifies for both Out of the Drawer for the old stamps, all but the largest feather were unused, and also Buy it Try it, as the stencil and inkpad were used on the day they arrived!

Day 93: Double Gatefold card - blog challenge

I am sharing this card with Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper challenge, NBUS challenge 16, and Little Red Wagon  - who require patterned paper, never before used stuff, and embossing respectively.
This is a double gatefold card, the papers are from Kaisercraft, the sentiment from Woodware and the previously unused butterfly from Deep Red.
I heat embossed in Periwinkle from Stampendous, used a scalloped circle punch for the butterfly and cut the sentiment pennant by hand.

Day 85: Steampunk butterfly card - three blog challenges

I am joining three challenges today: Cardz 4 Galz, Sweet Stampin' and Crafty Cardmakers.  SS and CC both ask for a 'create your own background' and C4G would like a feminine steampunk card.
the background was created using a swirly embossing folder to create the panel and then shmooshing ink over it.  I then added the three lattice die cuts (Marianne), the sentiment tag (Apple Blossom) and steampunk butterfly (Robert Addams) - the latter was cut twice, once in plain brown for a 'shadow' and then in a bronze cardstock to which the photo does not do justice!  The bronze butterfly is only affixed at the centre so the wings are free.  The sentiment is so old I am not sure of the make, perhaps Hobby Art.

Day 72: Birthday Card

I wasn't feeling very inspired today, mojo has completely left the building!  So I found this stamped Woodware image and coloured with alco markers, then assembled a card.

Day 66: 7 x 5 flower birthday card

Another outing for the SU Butterfly Basics set flower stamp. Also a new 7 X 5 background die from Card Making Magic, sentiment from Woodware. Coloured with alco markers.  The die looks greyish in th ephoto, but is purple IRL.

Day 54: Heat embossed butterfly birthday card

More old stamps used today - The butterfly circle is from Phill Martin and the sentiment is by Stampendous.  Both heat embossed with a teal powder.  I was just going to put the circle directly onto the paper (Kaisercraft) mat which I had already affixed to the card blank, but it didn't look right.  So I cut a scalloped mat, but it still needed something else so I die cut a stitched square in white!  I am happy with it now :-)

Day 52: Embossed/inked birthday card

I just rediscovered this stamp, it's either SU or Stampendous. Heat embossed and matted onto an inked dry embossed background. You're going to be seeing this stamp again!

Day 45: Die cut overlay birthday card

I love my new Lisa Horton overlay die, there are more in the range which I will buy when funds permit!  Here it is over some patterned paper from an old Kaisercraft pad.  The die is cut from silver mirri, but I can't remember the brand.

Day 43: Guest Designer for Retro Rubber challenge #135

This is very exciting - I have been asked to be the guest designer for this challenge on Retro Rubber! 

The challenge is a tic tac toe, as below:

I have chosen - die cut or punch / birthday / bright colours.  Though the bright colours started out as the patterned paper element, but then went in this different direction!

I covered the card blank with the bright patterned paper from an old Bo Bunny paper pad.  Then used a Lisa Horton die for the overlay.  I love this effect!  The stamp is from SU, around three or possibly four years old, and is done with an SU punch.

Day 37: Butterfly screen card

This one has been hanging around a long time.  It was actually all done apart from the sentiment, but I had run out of the purple scraps I had used for the butterflies.  

So I found a close colour-matched embossing powder and stamped/heat embossed the sentiment ....Simples...!!!

To make the screen card, you'll need an 11 x 6 inch strip, so you can make two out of a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock..  There is a full tutorial on my original Scrapbooks and Cookbooks blog here.

Day 34: blog challenge - use flowers

Today I am joining in the current Retro Rubber challenge, which is to use flowers.

Yet another 'found' pre-prepped background ( I must run out soon...??), which was run through an embossing folder and over-inked with Distress Oxides.
So I stamped the image onto a die-cut panel (SU Butterfly Basics, from around 4 years ago, I think).  The coloured with various alcohol markers in yellows and greens.  I am very pleased with it, must do a few more in different colourways, I think it will be suitable for several sentiments.

Stencil from Memory Box, using Distress Oxides. The butterfly is an old magazine freebie, as is the 'trail'.  The smaller butterflies are from Dali Art and the sentiment is from SU.  The large flower image is from Woodware and the sentiment from Stamping all Day.

Day 9: butterfly card

Another blog challenge today.  Retro Rubber has a theme of squares at the moment.

The stencilled squares (Memory Box) background was already done, just needed to be used!
The stamp is from Visible Image and must be at least three years old.  It has a background and a butterfly to go over it. A stamp positioner is essential for this! Sadly they don't have the combined images anymore, just a background one in a different set.  The sentiment is from an SU set released a couple of years ago.
So the card is square, the mat is square, the topper and stencilling are square :-)

Day 7: Birthday card with Woodware flowers

I am doing well on finishing off previously prepped stuff!  I had stamped these a while ago and have now coloured them in :-)

The stamp image is from Woodware, stamped with Memento because I knew I wanted to use Wink of Stella for a subtle gleam, and for that I needed to use alcohol markers.  I learned the hard way that WoS makes watercolour pens re-activate and drift over the image lines!!  A thin silver mirri mat completes the cards.
